My fiction writing progress
Ouch. Last post, September 6. That doesn't mean I haven't been making progress ... or does it? Let's say that there aren't many more fiction words on a page (a few, but nothing significant) but I have been surrounding myself with the right environment:
- Since I started having a longer train and bus journey to work, I've become addicted to Podcasts from Paula B's The Writing Show. Many of the interviews and discussions focus on important issues for me like fiction writing, finding motivation and time, and making a living from your writing.
- I've become the Grants Officer at FAWWA, the Fellowship of Australian Writers WA, where I can meet an interesting bunch of writers and get involved in a worthy cause (at the moment, finding enough funding to keep the Fellowship afloat).
- At school I found myself sitting next to cult novelist Cry Bloxsome, reminding me that novelists are more-or-less ordinary people like me.
- And my newest paid work at the travelzine Vagabondish is much closer to being exactly the kind of writing I want to do: meaningful, not about advertising, and deeply satisfying to write.

FAAWA... Yes, as per your earlier suggestion, I should pop in and help someday, just for the hell of doing something different. And helping you. And writers. And not having to be in the house. You get my drift. This week is crazy, but I could maybe the week after? What days you down there? I forgets everything these days ... x
