Where would my writing be without the internet?
I love the internet, I love blogs, and I love the sense of community they build. Why? Well, this is turning into a bit of an endless loop, but I got such a thrill that after blogging about Hope Clark's great newsletters she read it and left a comment ... and I only just discovered that she also blogged about my blog about her ... in her blog! (... if you can follow that).
My point today ... because I do have one ... is that without the internet, my writing life would be extraordinarily different. And more difficult, I'm sure. I can get support, tips and advice online that would be much harder to find in my face-to-face life. I can smile knowingly when I read about other writers who either have problems telling people they are writers (this used to be me) or who complain about the typical reactions they get (from my own experience, ranging from disinterest through "yeah, I always wanted to write, where should I send my work?" to "have I read your stuff?"). And the fact is that 95% of my paid work is internet-based, and the other 5% I email to the editors.
